The Vitra Miniatures Collection presents the most important classics in modern furniture history in miniature.
Construction, materials and colors correspond perfectly with the historical originals from the Vitra Design Museum. This faithfulness to the details makes the miniatures not only sought after collector's items but also ideal illustrative items for universities, design academies and architects.
The Vitra Miniatures Collection is unique worldwide. A license agreement has been concluded with the designer or his/her legal successor for each miniature. Many designers collaborate with Vitra Design Museum in devising the miniatures. In return, they are paid royalties to reward the artistic copyright of the designer.
Thanks to the perfect and precise craftsmanship with which they are made, all the elements and details of the original piece of furniture are transposed onto the Vitra miniatures on a scale of 1-to-6. The development process for the miniatures takes months of molding, selection of materials, and manufacturing processes. Each of these refined objects is made by hand. Tools and machines have been developed specially for the production runs involved. The miniatures are lathed, welded and upholstered with truly microscopic exactness; even the screws and bolts are only a sixth of the size of the originals!
The Miniatures Collection is exclusively available through selected retailers.
